Video Poker is a popular game that can be wagered on in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your home computer, using a net connection. The rules are very straightforward and involve the player trying to achieve the highest assemblage of cards possible in order to come away with money. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, apart from the line of contact with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker starts when the enthusiast inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A five card hand will be "given out" on the screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players should now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the enthusiast has selected which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be needed they will be handed out. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.
Typically, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can range from machine to machine, so that experienced gamblers are agile enough to select the most money-making ones each and every time.
As soon as the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to continue on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Additionally, several styles of the game give the enthusiast an opportunity to increase their winnings, in which case another game is played. There are also differences among individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
