Video Poker is a popular game that usually will be enjoyed in casinos all over the world, or in your house on your PC, through a net connection. The game rules are very simple and involve the player attempting to get the best mixture of cards achievable in order to come away with cash. In this respect it is very similar as a normal game of poker, apart from the line of contact with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor puts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and presses the deal button. A five card hand will be "handed out" on the screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors should now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the bettor wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the gambler has decided on which cards he would like to retain, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards are given out if desired. The game is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.
Typically, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can vary from game to game, so that knowledgeable gamblers are agile enough to choose the most profitable ones each time.
After the first round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that might have been won. Further, several versions of the game give the bettor an opportunity to double their winnings, in which case another game is played. There are also differences among individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying characteristics to increase playability.
