Electronic Poker is a favored game that can be enjoyed in casinos across the globe, or in your house on your home computer, using an Internet account. The game rules are very simple and involve the player trying to achieve the highest mixture of cards achievable in order to win money. On this account it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, apart from the involvement with other players. Of course, techniques used in a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker begins when the enthusiast puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and presses the deal button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and players should now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.
After the player has chosen which cards she wishes to retain, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be needed they will be handed out. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.
Generally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable gamblers are agile enough to pick the most money-making ones each time.
Once the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that might have been won. Additionally, some versions of the game give the bettor a chance to double their wins, in which instance another hand is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying characteristics to increase playability.
